Computer Centre is one among the centralized facilities available in the University Campus. It was established in the year 1988 with the UGC funds to the tune of 14 lakhs with the objective of providing Computer Education to the rural areas by conducting the Computer Applications courses through distance mode. The centre has offered a diploma course in Computer Applications and Software through distance education. Later in 1990, the Computer Centre has offered the PGDCA course through distance learning mode. Since the courses were offered by the Computer Centre only through distance mode till the inception of Directorate of Distance Education in our University, there is no necessity/provision for creating Alumni for the Computer Centre. Hence, the Computer Centre has no Alumni.
As a continuation of its academic activities, now the Computer Centre is assisting the Alagappa Institute of Skill Development for handling theory classes for the B.Voc (Soft.Devp.) course and to various departments for handling theory and practical classes to the students who are offering Information and Communications Technology (ICT) courses as interdisciplinary courses.
Computer Centre has joint venture with IIT Mumbai Spoken Tutorial for conducting various programs as well as Hardware Training Program. Our faculty members are associated with www.edas.info, www.easycahir.org as a reviewer as well as technical program committee member.
