Excellence in Action
Bioelectronics is the innovative and emerging field of science integrating electronics, physics, chemistry, biology and nanotechnology. This interdisciplinary field represents the present and future needs of human resource for the biomedical, defense, environmental, agricultural, and food industries. Successful health care delivery requires effective medical devices as tools for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Despite the exponential growth of scientific and technological development, low- and middle-income countries are still largely excluded from access to appropriate and affordable health technologies. Hence, it is essential to develop “innovative technologies¨ to promote novel bioelectronics device solutions to address the issues and further development in the areas of health and its allied areas including pharmaceutical and food industries. In order to address in the key areas of several industries, Alagappa University has established an exclusive department for the study of Bioelectronics and Biosensors in the year 2008. The Department offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in the interdisciplinary areas of bioelectronics and biosensors. We also offer a PG programme in Physics with specialization in Biosensors.
The following shall be the fees payable by the candidates undergoing P.G. and Ph.D. programmes in the Department of BEBS
Faculty members of the department of Bioelectronics and biosensors are engaged in research activities in various branches of nanotechnology, electrochemistry, biosensors, DNA sensors and polymer based materials. We have already established collaboration with a few national labs. Attempts are being made to involve industries for fabrication of devices. The Department currently has the following facilities for research and development activities.
